DESCRIPTION
Doxepin belongs to a class of drugs known as tricyclic antidepressants, used to treat depression and anxiety, and may be particularly useful in people with depression and migraine. Antidepressants may reduce migraine frequency by regulating a chemical in the brain known as serotonin. In general, doxepin doses for migraine are lower than that for depression; therefore side effects may be less noticeable.

Side effects associated with doxepin include upset stomach, drowsiness, weakness or tiredness, excitement or anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, dry mouth, skin sensitivity to sunlight, and appetite or weight changes.
