DESCRIPTION
Lovastatin is an enzyme blocker also known as a "statin."

POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS
Headache, dizziness, rash, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, upset stomach, insomnia, flatulence, nausea, muscle aches, blurred vision, dysgeusia, lens opacities, increased transaminases, heartburn, pruritus.
CAUTIONS
- Not for use if you have active liver disease, are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Digoxin, norethindrone, and ethinyl estradiol levels, cholestyramine.
FOOD INTERACTIONS
Avoid intake of large quantities of grapefruit juice (greater than or equal to 1 quart/day); may increase toxicity.

St. John's wort
PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING CAUTIONS
Pregnancy category X (may produce skeletal malformations); excretion into breast milk unknown, contraindicated in nursing mothers.
