DESCRIPTION
Zolpidem, a hypnotic drug, is used to treat insomnia. It helps affected persons get to sleep faster and sleep through the night. Isolated, positive trials on the use of zolpidem by patients with Parkinson's Disease report improvement in motor symptoms and abnormal movements. The drug effects occur as fast as 15 minutes and are optimal within two hours of administration. Persistent use of zolpidem may lead to a reduced effect in some patients.

Among three patients, zolpidem provided 31% to 100% improvement in dystonia (prolonged, repetitive muscle contractions that may cause twisting or jerking movements of the body ora body part) and up to 40% improvement in Parkinsonism.
