Zovirax Information
Zovirax is a topically administered ointment that actively fights genital herpes viruses. Although there is no cure for genital herpes Zovirax helps keep symptoms of genital herpes down and prevents future outbreaks.
Zovirax contains 50 mg of acyclovir in a polyethylene glycol (PEG) base. Zovirax is a topical agent and therefore should only be applied to the skin. Avoid putting it anywhere near the eyes!
Very rarely will a person experience side affects from Zovirax. The only side affects reported include pain at the application site and a slight skin rash. You should adequately cover all lesions every 3 hours, 6 times per day for 7 days.
Nursing mothers should avoid taking Zovirax because if can show up in the milk and therefore affect the baby.
